"Levadas - Madeira"

The "Levadas" are a remarkable, ingenious irrigation system that was developed in the 16th century by the first settlers, to distribute water from the high mountain springs to the slopes and valleys. Nowadays, on the island of Madeira there are more than 20 official hinking trail along more then 1'400 kilometres of Levadas.

An identic stamp of the face value € 0.68 stamp, issued at 27th January 2014 with value E20g (self-adhesive).
