On 29th December 2014, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia together with Mr. Alex Mayeya, Acting Postmaster General of Zambia Postal Services Corporation attended the issuance ceremony of commemorative stamps on the 50th anniversary of China-Zambia diplomatic relations at Zambia Postal Services Corporation.
This set of commemorative stamps include six pieces, all jointly designed and selected by experts from the two countries, and contain featuring unique elements both China and Zambia. For example, the sheetlet contains the Zambia national flag as its background color. It also includes pictures of the valuable historical meetings between Chairman Mao Zedong and Dr. Kaunda, first President of the Republic of Zambia, and between President Xi Jinping and the late President Sata, the most representative China-Zambia cooperation projects like TAZARA and National Heroes stadium, and the world wonders of the Great Wall and the Victoria Falls that the two countries are most proud of. In short, this is an unique set of stamps that deserves to be collected.
This set of stamps is printed in China and presented, as a gesture of friendship, by the Chinese side in the number of 210,000 pieces to the Zambian side for issuance in Zambia. The joint issuance of the commemorative stamps not only marks another successful cooperation in the postal and cultural areas between the two countries, serves as a wonderful gift for the 50th anniversary, but also leaves with our children a special and valuable legacy. I have every reason to believe that when the beautiful stamps are circulated throughout Zambia, the traditional friendship between China and Zambia will be further spread far and wide among our two peoples.
