This stamp issue of 3 se-tenant stamps and two miniaturesheets printed in 2012 to celebrate the handover of the Olympic Games from London to Rio, were being withheld from release by Brazil Post because of a licensing dispute with the Olympic Games organizing committee.
The three stamps are non-denominated, paying the first tier rate for domestic letters.
The stamps depict famous landmarks of London and the mountainous terrain surrounding Rio de Janeiro.
The two miniaturesheets show the same image, Rio’s Sugarloaf Mountain and the city below.
The se-tenant stamps of the Olympic Games sheets depicts an artists composition of Big Ben, Tower Bridge and Sugarloaf Mountain, while the se-tenant stamps of the Paralympic Games sheet depicts London’s Olympic Eye Ferris and Christ the Redeemer statue atop Corcovado mountain.
