Greece and China are ancient cradles of civilisation, writing and the arts, with a long seafaring tradition. The official announcement that 2015 is the International Year of Maritime Cooperation between the two countries is the inspiration and incentive for promoting Greek-Chinese relations and developing cooperation in terms of their economies, trade, investment, ports and culture.
As part of this strategy of cooperation, and in support of the major initiative to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Greece and China, on 4 November Hellenic Post released a commemorative miniature sheet entitled “Greece – China Maritime Cooperation Year 2015”, at the same time promoting their role as guardians of culture.

The miniaturesheet shows an artists composition of a Chinese treasure ship and a Greek Bireme illustrated with flowers and a Chinese and Greek mountainous background.
Whatever the artist wanted to represent, it seems that the summits rising up in the far background looks like the main summits of the Mt. Olympus.
