The Lake Achen is 8 kilometres long and appr. 1 kilometres wide. The Lake Achen and Achen valley seperate the Karwendel Range to the west with the Rofan Mountains to the east.

The stamp shows the "MS St. Benedikt" (built 1959) and a view from Pertisau. It is a distant view towards (south-east). The mountains behind are in a distance of 20-30 kilometres and belong to the Kitzb├╝hel Alps.

Austria 1989, Achensee Railway.

The Lake Achen Railway is a 6.78 kilometres (4.21 mi) long metre gauge railway running between Jenbach and Seespitz at Lake Achen. In the background the Seebergspitze (2'085 m) and Seekarspitze (2'677 m) of the Vorkarwendel Group.
