The Salzkammergut mountains borders in the east to the upper Austrian Prealps, in the southeast to the Totes Gebirge range, in the south to the Dachstein Mountains and Tennen Mountains and in the west to the Berchtesgaden Alps.

The highest summit of the Salzkammergut Mountains is the Gamsfeld (2'027 m),

 

Austria 1945/1946, Schafberg (1'782 m) at Lake Wolfgang.
The summit of the Schafberg (1'782 m) on its northern shore is connected from Sankt Wolfgang by a rack railway.
The stamps were issued in the series "Definitive Landscapes 1945-1947".

The Langbathseen are two mountain lakes (Vorderer Langbathsee and Hinterer Langbathsee) at the foothills of the Hollengebirge range.
