The Glacier Nationalpark was established in the year 1886. It is after the Banff National Park the second oldest Nationalpark in Canada and covers an area of 1'349 square kilometres. The Trans-Canada Highway passes through the park. The highest mountain within the Glacier National Park is the Mount Dawson at 3'390 metres.

The Glacier National Park in Canada is not to be confused with the Glacier Nationalpark in Montana (USA).

The stamp shows a view from the east (Bald Mountain) towards Mount Sir Donald 3'284 m (left) and Uto Peak (right).
The aesthetic pyramid shaped north-west face of Mount Sir Donald rises about 2'000 metres above the Trans Canada Highay at Rogers Pass.

First ascent: 25th July 1890 by Emil Huber, Carl Sulzer (Swiss) and Harry Cooper (Canadian).
