The Glacier Nationalpark was established in the year 1886. It is after the Banff National Park the second oldest Nationalpark in Canada and covers an area of 1'349 square kilometres. The Trans-Canada Highway passes through the park. The highest mountain within the Glacier National Park is the Mount Dawson at 3'390 metres.
The Glacier National Park in Canada is not to be confused with the Glacier Nationalpark in Montana (USA).
