The 230 kilometres long scenig road "Icefields Parkway" connects Lake Louise in the Banff Nationalpark with Jasper in the Jasper Nationalpark. The road, which was completed in 1940, was named after the Columbia Icefield.
The picture (right) is showing a view from the lookout point "Bow Summit", which is at 2'088 metres the highest point of the Icefields Parkway, across "Lake Peyto" towards the Mount Patterson (3'197 m). The Mount Patterson towers almost 1'500 metres above the northern slopes of Bow Pass.
The picture (left) is showing a view from the Cameron lake, within Waterton Lakes National Park, towards Forum Peak and Mt. Custer.
The stamp was issued in the series "Fresh Waters of Canada".

The image features the Columbia Icefield, where tourists can have Snocoach or Icewalk tours on the Athabasca Glacier. The Columbia Icefield is between 100 and 365 metres deep and has an area of 325 square kilometres.
