The Emei Shan is a mountain in the Sichuan Province.
At 3'099 metres the Emei Shan is one of "The Four Sacred Mountains of Chinese Buddhism".

The 71 metres tall "Giant Buddha of Leshan" was curved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers and faces the Emei Shan.
It was built between 713 and 803 (during the Tang Dynasty).
