Huanglong is a scenic and historic interest area in Songpan County in the northwestern part of the Sichuan Province.

 The Huanglong valley stretches from the north towards the northern foothills of the Xuebaoding (5'588 m), which is the highest mountain of the Min Shan. The major scenery is concentrated in the 3.6 kilometer long Huanglong Valley. The altidude of the entrance is at 3'199 m and the highest place, Wucaichi ponds, at almost 3'600 metres. It was listed as a world heritage site in 1992.

Colored travertine ponds are the main landscapes in the Huanglong. All together Huanglong has over 2'300 colored ponds in eight groups.

The illustration of the miniaturesheet depicts a distant view from the Xueshan Ridge (Snow Mountain Ridge Pass / 雪山梁 ) 4'007m (32°44'20.15"N 103°44'8.56"E) towards a mountain ridge in the east. If the depicted summits in a distance of about 30 kilometres are named, i do not know (geocode of the summit in the middle is 32°48'56.38"N 104° 0'1.68"E). Snow Mountain Ridge Pass is the highest point on the road between Jiuhuang Airport and the Huanglong Valley.

Such cascades of natural lakes formed behind travertine dams can be seen for example in Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park (USA) or Pamukkale (Turkey).
