The Nyamuragira Volcano is situated 13 kilometres in the northwest of the Nyiragongo Volcano in the Virunga National Park/Democratic Republic of the Congo.

It belongs to the most active volcanoes of Africa. It has erupted over 40 times between 1885 and 2012.  

It forms with the volcanoes Karisimbi (4'507 m), Mikeno (4'437 m), Muhabura (4'127 m), Sabinyo (3'645 m), Bisoke (3'711 m), Gahinga (3'474 m) and Nyiragongo (3'470 m) the Virunga Mountains.
