Saltos de La Jalda is located within the Parque Nacional Los Saltos de La Jalda in the municipality of Miches (El Seibo Province).
It was created to conserve the best of the tropical rainforest on the northern slope of the Eastern Mountain Range, also known as Sierra de Seibo, growing on alluvial soil, where the Magua and Las Lisas Rivers have their headwaters, waterfalls formed on the intermediate hillsides, swimming pools and extraordinary scenery that open before the visible basins extend to the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Samana.
The Salto La jalda (120 metres) is known as the countries highest waterfall and is located near Magua, about 20 kilometers in the west of Miches. It can be reached by an about 7 kilometres long trail from the park entrance.
