The Fernandina Island is after the Isabela Island (4'640 km²) and the Santa Cruz Island (864 km²) the third largest of the Galápagos Islands. The island covers an area of 642 square kilometres. The highest point on the island is the active La Cumbre Volcano at 1'476 m.
