The Massif du Pelat is located in the departments Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes. The massif extends from North to South between the Verdon and the Var and is surrounded to the north and east by the massive of the Argentera Mercantour (to which it is sometimes attached), to the south by the Prealps of Castellane and on the West by the massive of the three Bishoprics.
Highest summits of the range are Mont Pelat (3'050 m), le Cimet (3'020 m), le Téton (2'969 m), le Trou de l'Aigle (2'961 m), le Grand Cheval de Bois (2'838 m), le sommet des Garrets (2'822 m), le sommet de la Frema (2'747 m), les Grandes Tours du Lac (2'742 m) and la montagne de l'Avalanche (2'729 m).
