Amsterdam Island (Île Amsterdam) named after Amsterdam, the Dutch capital, is a French island and is situated on the north of Saint Paul in the Indian Ocean and is part of the French Southern Antarctic Lands. The volcanic island's last eruption was in 1792. Its highest peak Mont de la Dives reaches a hight of 867 metres.

It forms together with the neighboring Island Saint Paul one of the five districts of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.
