Indonesia map Air Terjun Sigura-gura

The 250 metres high Air Terjun Sigura-gura (250 metres) on Asahan River is known as the highest waterfall of Indonasia. It is located at (2°33'1.39"N 99°18'21.77"E) in the Toba Samosir Regency on Sumatra.

Some kilometres upstream the river has been dammed by an artificial dam to accommodate most of the water of Asahan River. As a result the falls are almost always dry.

About 500 metres in the north, there is another waterfall with the same height and named Air Terjun Ponot (2°33'16.06"N 99°18'13.17"E). It is often confused for Sigura-gura.
