The Lago di Garda in northern Italy is the countries largest lake. The northern part is surrounded by mountains, the majority of which belong to the Gruppo del Baldo.

The Monte Baldo group is a more than 2000 metres high and 37 km long mountain chain, which is situated between the Adige river and the east bank of lake Garda. The highest summit is the Cima Valdritta (2'218 m). Other major summits are Monte Baldo Altissimo di Nago (2'079 m), Cima del Longino (2'179 m), Cima delle Pozzette (2'137 m) and Monte Telegrafo (2'175 m).
