The Bandai Asashi Nationalpark consists of four areas:
The northern part, which includes the Dewasanzan Chain (Mt. Gassen, Haguro-san and Yudona-san) and the Asashi Chain, the Iide Mountain Chain aera, the mountain area with the Bandai and Azuma areas and the Lake Inawashiroko area. The park covers an area of 1870,41 square kilometres of the prefectures Fukushima, Yamagata and Niigata.
The highest mountain within the park is the Dainichi-dake (2'128 m) of the Iide Mountains.
Other famous summits are the Iide-san (2'105 m), Nishiazumayama (2'035 m), Gassan Volcano (1'984 m), O-Asashi-dake (1'870 m), Bandai-san (1'816 m), Azuma Konfuji (1'705 m), Yudono-san (1'504 m) and the Haguro-san (414 m).
