The Chubu-Sangaku Nationalpark was established around the Hida Mountains (Northern Alps of the Japanese Alps) on December 4, 1934. It covers an area of 1743.23 square kilometres of the Nagano, Gifu, Toyama and Niigata Prefectures.
Within the Chubu-Sangaku Nationalpark are situated all major peaks of the Hida Mountains and Japan's highest waterfalls, the Hannoki and Shomio Falls.
