The Kurikoma volcano (1'627 m) rises over the border triangle of the prefectures of Akita Iwate and Myagi. The mountain offers magnificent views. From the top of the mountain top you have a panoramic view over Mt. Gassan, Mt. Chokaisan, the Zao Mountains, Mt. Komagatake, Mt. Hayachine and even towards the Pacific Ocean.
Kurikoma is together with Mount Kamuro and Mount Yakeishi part of the Kurikoma Quasi-National Park.
