The Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and after the Mount Kilimanjaro the second-highest in Africa.

The Mount Kenya is situated in central Kenya, just south of the equator, around 150 kilometres north-northeast of the capital Nairobi. The two highest peaks of the Mt. Kenya massif are Batian at 5'199 metres and Nelion 5'188 metres. Other major peaks of the Mount Kenya are Thompson (4'995m), Point Lenana (4'985), Point Piggot (4'957m), Point John (4'883m), Tereri (4'715 m), Sendeyo (4'705 m), Midget Peak (4'700m) and several other tops with an approximately hight of about 4'400 - 4'500 m, Tilman Peak, Shipton Peak and Point Slade. Almost all peaks of the Mount Kenya are of volcanic origin.

 Jomo Kenyatta (22.10.1893 – 22.08.1978) served as the first Prime Minister (1963–1964) and President (1964–1978) of Kenya. He is considered the founding father of the Kenyan nation.
