The Goboboseb Mountains are situated in the west of the Brandberg Massif. It covers the area between the Atlantic coast in the west and the Brandberg Massif in the east. Its highest summit is the Tafelkop at 1'073 m. The Goboboseb Mountains include also the Messum Crater. It is an extinct volcano with a diameter of more than 20 kilometres. It was one of the volcanoes of the Etendeka period, which occurred about 133 million years ago.
