Twyfelfontein is situated in the Huab valley about 65 km in the north of the Brandberg Massif and about 70 km in the southwest of the city Khorixas and the Ugab Terraces. The Twyfelfontein area is well known for the number of over 2000 rock engravings.
Close to the rock-art site you can find the Petrified Forest. It covers an area of about 300 x 800 metres and was formed 240 - 300 million years ago.
Another site is the small Canyon with the geological formation, known as organ pipes. Some of them are rising up to 5 metres. These were thought to have formed about 120 million years ago when the dolerite shrank and cracked as it cooled.
