The Mount Api is the highest mountain in the Gurans Himal. The Gurans Himal is situated in far western Nepal in the south of Nalakankar Himal and in the west of Kanjiroba Himal. Other major peaks of the Gurans Himal are Mt. Nampa and Mt. Saipal.

The Mt. Api is together with Mt. Nampa part of the Api-Nampa Conservation Area (established in the year 2010).
