The Mahalangur Himal is situated between the Rolwaling Himal in the west and the Kangchenjunga Himal in the east. The Khumbu region ist the bestknown and populated part within the Mahalangur Himal. The Mahalangur Himal includes the Makalu and Barun section as well.

Gokyo Ri is a famous trekking peak near Gokyo settlement on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier, which stretches from the foot of Cho Oyu to the north almost to the slopes of Cholatse. Gokyo Ri offers one of the finest panoramic views in the Khumbu area.
