The 88 kilometres long Romsdalsfjorden is known as the the ninth longest fjord in Norway.

The city of Molde is located on the northern shore of the Romsdalsfjorden.
The stamp shows a view across the Molde Archipelago, a chain of about 50 tree-clad islands and islets, towards summits in the south. Molde is famous for its panoramic view of some 222 partly snow-clad peaks of the Romsdal Alps of which the Store Venjetinden (1'852 m) is the highest.

The name of the supply vessel is “Normand Arctic” from Solstad Shipping as. The picture of the vessel was taken from an aircraft in the fjord Romsdalsfjorden nearby Molde with the mountains around Åndalsnes in the background.
