The Cozia National Park has an area of 171 square kilometres and is covered almost completely by dense forests of beech, spruce and oak. The park is located in the Southern Carpathians on the valley of Olt river, which is one one of the longest rivers in Romania.
It includes Cozia Mountain and partially Capatanii and Lotrului Mountains. Cozia Mountain 1'668 meters is the highest elevation in the National Park.
