Russia 1999, Evenk Autonomous Okrug.
The Evenk Autonomous Okrug was a federal subject of Russia and is situated in the Eastern Siberia (now part of Krasnoyarsk Krai). The centre of the Area was the settlement of Tura (founded 1926) and located at the confluence of the Kochechum and the Nizhnyaya Tunguska Rivers. The stamp features a probably unnamed waterfall on a mountain river in the region. In the foreground there is an Evenk on a reindeer. Reindeer-breeding is an important part of the economy of the area, which boasts vast reindeer pastures in the north. The fishing and fur industries are also important elements of the area's economy.
The stamp was issued in the series "Territories of the Russian Federation III".
