The Karisimbi is an extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains. It marks the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At 4'507 metres the Karisimbi is the highest Mountain of Rwanda. 

It forms with Mikeno (4'437 m), Muhabura (4'127 m), Sabinyo (3'645 m), Bisoke (3'711 m), Gahinga (3'474 m), Nyiragongo (3'470 m) and Nyamuragira (3'058 m) the Virunga Mountains.
