Slovenia is a country in Central and Southeastern Europe touching the European Alps and bordering the Mediterranean.

Slovenia's highest peak is Mt. Triglav (2’864 m). Triglav is the highest peak of the Julian Alps, a range that stretches from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia. The Julian Alps are named after Julius Caesar, who founded the municipium of Cividale del Friuli at the foot of the mountains.
