The Paarl Mountain is formed by three round outcrops (Paarl Rock, Bretagne Rock und Gordon's Rock). It was declared as a National Monument in 1963 and reaches an altitude of 654 metres. The word "Paarl" is Afrikaans and means "Pearl".
