Eicher Matterhorn Briefmarke 2005Switzerland, Matterhorn postage stamp issued 2005

Switzerland 2005, Matterhorn.

Stephan Eicher, has designed an 85-centime special stamp for Swiss Post. Entitled "Merci" or "Thank you", it is dedicated to the origin of the Matterhorn. The contours of one of the world's most beautiful mountains, when turned upside-down, reveal the shape of its origin - the African continent. The 1'000 metres or so at the top of the Matterhorn really did originate in Africa.
