The Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado covers an area of 1'075 square kilometres. The park contains 72 named peaks higher than 3'700 metres, of which the Longs Peak (4'346 m) is the highest.

The background of the pane of 10 self-adhesive postage stamps is based on a view from about 3'600 metres above sealevel along the Trail Ridge Road (from aproximately 40°24'46.05"N 105°44'25.27"W) towards a glacier-carved Forest Canyon in the south-west. The four summits of the Continental Divide can be identified (from left to right) as Mount Julian (3'940 m), Cracktop Mountain (3'889 m), Chief Cheley Peak (3'903 m) and Mount Ida (3'926 m).
