The Mt. St. Helens is an active volcano in the state of Washington. The Mt. St. Helens is well known for its eruption on Sunday, May 18, 1980. The 1980 eruption reduced the elevation of the mountain's summit from 2'949 m to an about 1.6 km wide horseshoe-shaped crater at 2'550 m.
