Pfannenstiel is the name of a hilly ridge and also its highest point, stretching from the countries largest city of Zürich along the northern shore of Lake Zürich towards the small town of Rapperswil. The highest point (853 m) is located between the villages Meilen and Egg ZH and can be reached by car. On the top there is a restaurant and nearby a viewing tower. If you climb up on a clear day the 172 stairs of the towers spiral staircase, you can enjoy a spendid view over the wooded summit and across lake Zürich towards the Swiss Alps. The view reaches from the Santis massif in the northeast to the major peaks of the Bernese Alps in the south-west.
