Das Unterengadin erstreckt sich von Zernez bis zur Staatsgrenze bei Martina. Der Ort Ftan liegt auf 1650 m. In der Mitte des obigen Bildes ist auch das Schloss Tarasp zu sehen. Es trohnt auf einem kegelförmigen Felshügel. Die Grundzüge des Schlosses stammen aus den Jahren um 1040.
