The Göschener Alp valley (canton Uri) stretches from the village Göschenen for about 15 kilometres to the Kehlenalp. The valley is dominated by an impressive mountain wall, formed by the Dammastock, Schneestock, Eggstock and other summits. In the middle of the valley there is the dam of the Lake Göscheneralp. It was completed in 1960. The planted dam is 155 m high, 540 m long (at the base the dam is 700 m wide) and 9.3 million cubic meters of material were used.
